Does Starwood Hold the #1 Miles/Points Card?

SPG addicts are also known as Starwood Preferred Guest luxury specialists. That is what I like to call myself anyway. This has been named the #1 Airline Credit Card to own for a few years now from the members of FlyerTalk Community. This hotel chain credit card has also been named the Best Affinity Credit Card at the 19th Annual Freddie Awards which is voted on by frequent travelers. Why is a hotel chain credit card the #1 Airline Card? Because Starwood Preferred Guest American Express Card gives you 1 point per dollar spent then you can convert those Starwood points into miles on a 1:1 basis. Most hotel programs do not value their points as equal to miles or even half the amount. The Starwood credit card is free for the first year but normally if you call to cancel after the anniversary date they may waive the fee. If not, you can always cancel and apply again to avoid the fee and earn extra points.

New Changes to Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card

They finally changed the Starwood American Express card with exciting new benefits frequent travelers have demanded. You can now earn double Starpoints at Starwood hotels and resorts (even the W Resort at Fort Lauderdale Beach). The design has changed to be cooler and more hip.

Extra Hotel Bonus Points TIP: If you own a business get Additional bonus Starwood points with the Starwood's Business AMEX Card

Check your emails from the Starwood Preferred Guest program regularly because they run some really good promotions you must log in and sign up for to earn big bonuses.

If you are bored with the usual hotel points or feel that you have to use up too many Starwood points to turn them into a free stay you may consider some new offerings. Loyalty points from Starwood now feature nights out with celebrities or swimming with white sharks. --Reported in the Wall Street Journal.
