Their has been a debate whether airlines should charge more for passengers that may take up more than one seat. It’s a controversial debate of course so the airlines most likely will not touch it. Although, If you plan on flying Uzbekistan Airways it may include a trip to the scale. The airline started a pre-flight weighing of passengers to determine the average weight of passengers and their carry-on luggage.
They claim that the procedure is strictly for research purposes and will aid the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in ensuring flight safety. Passengers will be asked to proceed through a weighing machine in the departure gate zone. (more…)

Uber has partnered with Starwood Hotels and Capital One for some great incentives so far this year. With this new Lyft promotion is like no other because you can earn Starbucks stars when you take rides with Lyft and achieve Starbucks Gold Status.

Just Last year Nashville International Airport became the first major U.S. airport to allow Uber and Lyft pickups (legally). Although some Uber and Lyft drivers will still come pick you up at DFW, Love Field, and LAX even though they were not allowed and were threatened to be ticketed in some cases. The Uber and Lyft apps will soon allow pickups at DFW and LAX airports. Two of the worlds largest airports. The service is “cheaper than a taxi, and usually quite a bit nicer,” is normally what you get when comparing a Checker cab or Yellow cab to a ride-share service.
Uber is already dominating cabs in the competition for business trips, a trend that has only continued since the City Council’s new transportation-for-hire ordinance went into effect three months ago making it legal. The local taxi industry has been disrupted, with o
ne major exception being the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, where cabs and other older transportation companies including the limos and shuttles still enjoy the same competition-squelching protections they have always had. Uber users have been known to change their location on the app from DFW airport where you could not hail a ride to just offsite then telling the driver to meet them at the terminal.
DFW rolls out new regulations for ride sharing on August 1 that will allow these apps to compete for airport passengers. DFW is one huge taxi Eden with 63 million annual airline passengers, many of whom need rides and because it was built in the middle of no where between Dallas and Fort Worth and is far from whatever the rider’s final destination. In 2013, it collected more than $8 million in fees from taxi companies, which suggests that the taxi companies themselves are making at least in the tens of millions.
Back to LAX the typical taxi trip from LAX to downtown Los Angeles is more than $50, not including tip. In periods of low demand, Uber or Lyft rides are closer to $30, but that can rise sharply during peak periods. You can also get a Wing ride which has no surge rates for $35 one-way.
Some argue that dynamic pricing has put cab drivers at a disadvantage because taxi fares are set by city officials and do not fluctuate. Although a lot of consumers are fed up with constant scams from cabbies and rarely have problems with Uber or Lyft.

UPDATE- My favorite deals TODAY are these two with the following promo codes:
1. GROCERY35 is the promo code to enter for 20% off a grocery purchase. I tried a few things such as coffee but it did not work but it seemed to work for a case of Red Bull which made it way cheaper than I could have paid at Costco. I saved $13 on a case of Redbulls getting the price down to $24 or $1 per Red Bull.
2. PRIMEGCS – is the other promo code to use for #PRIMEDAY because it gets you $10 promotional code sent to you if you purchase a multi-pack of gift cards. I bought 3 $15 Amazon Gift Cards for $45. You will then get an email for a $10 promo code from Amazon to use in the future. Tip: Use your Discover Card for an additional 5%-10% back and click an Ebates link for another 3% on top of that!
Read below the jump below for the other amazing deals today!!
Amazon is barely out of it’s teens turning 20 which is actually quite a big birthday for a dot com e-commerce site that used to only sell books. To mark the occasion the mega-retailer is giving Prime members access to a sale event that they claim is bigger than Black Friday.
This may just be a way of rushing Back to School or really rushing Christmas shopping by Amazon comparing this sale to Black Friday. If you want to take time away from your summer vacation or a few minutes off work for the Prime Day sale it begins at 12am PT on July 15 and will push out new deals as quickly as every 10 minutes for a total of 24 hours.
You can sign up now and get in on the sale because it is for new Prime customers as well as old members. There’s no catch if you sign up for the 30-day free trial and still take advantage of the deals and cancel the subscription before you’re charged for Prime.
The sales will run across all departments, including electronics, appliances and apparel, and could appear as lightning deals and deals of the day. The sale is likely a play to entice shoppers to join Amazon’s Prime service. A yearly Prime membership costs $99 and bundles two-day shipping on select items with Amazon services like Instant Video, a music streaming service and access to special Kindle book deals. Read here about the benefits of an Amazon Prime membership besides the free shipping.
Make sure to use these credit cards to get an extra 5% off Prime Day and everyday charges at Amazon.
Amazon’s Prime Day will be a global shopping event offering more deals than Black Friday but exclusively for Prime members in the U.S., U.K., Spain, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, Canada and Austria. Be prepared to stick by the computer or smart phone starting Wednesday, July 15 at midnight with new deals starting as often as every ten minutes. Shop thousands of Lightning Deals and seven popular Deals of the Day and receive unlimited fast, free shipping.
