Easy & Free Way to Earn $3 per UBER Ride!

We know it says $2 in the photo above but stay tuned we’ll show you $3. Shop Your Way (SYW) and Uber have teamed up to give SYW members the opportunity to earn SYW points for their Uber rides. Shop Your Way is a points currency where you can redeemed at Sears, Kmart and/or at shopyourway.com. You cannot redeem SYW points as payment for an Uber ride. You can redeem your rewards at Sears, Kmart, Lands’ End, or online for clothing, electronics, entertainment and much more.

Not only can you earn cash back from UBER rides with Shop Your Way but you can also connect the Ibotta app for an extra dollar per ride! This gets you three dollars per ride. You’d be amazed at the thousands of points I’ve redeemed since November last year on ShopYourWay on things such as a George Foreman Grill and kitchen utensils paying no shipping and not even connecting a credit card.

Here’s how to get up to $3 per UBER Ride:

Step 1: Sign-Up here for Shop Your Way.

Step 2: Connect Shop Your Way with the UBER App. This automatically earns you $2 per ride.

Step 3: To earn the $1 extra cash back, download Ibotta (YOU GET $10 to start you off with Referral Code UNCVEUI). Here are more details on Ibotta. You must open the Ibotta app before booking the UBER ride and it stacks with with Shop Your Way promo.

Bonus:  Earn 10 points per $1 (1%) with the Drop app. This also stacks on top of the $3 per ride you’re earning above. This really doesn’t take much time to all set-up and then you are banking on each UBER ride! You can also get the same points per ride on Lyft with this app.

ShopYourWay and Uber Points Work When You Least Expect It

A few things we discovered with the $2 per ride cash back from ShopYourWay is that not only do you get it for U.S. rides but it has worked for Europe and Australia and other destinations when traveling. We’ve also discovered that you can earn points on Uber Eats transactions which is a huge deal if you order on-demand often. Another plus is that it works using points such as Membership Rewards from AMEX and gift cards and credits — so basically any transaction out of the Uber or Uber Eats app will earn you SYW points.

I’ve earned over $300 in SYW points since I connected the shopping portal to Uber just a few months ago. This is mainly because they had a $4 bonus a few times per Uber ride so I’ve been extremely happy with this new found earning treasure chest because it’s FREE MONEY.

Earn 3 Additional Points Per Dollar on Uber Rides

We’ve discussed the amazing Uber Credit Card which is one of our favorite rewards cards out on the market now from any bank. You can read a full review here for the Uber Visa. We have also discussed maximizing the Altitude Visa and Citi Thank You Cards for 3x on Uber Rides which count as Travel.

Uber is a pretty amazing app. I’ve done day trips to cities like Chicago and NYC without having to rent a car thanks to UberX rides that are cheaper than a taxi and far more convenient. And while people wait for an hour in the taxi line I breeze right into a waiting car. I have even earned Starpoints for using Uber on top of 20% Off and an additional 1.5 points per dollar for charging Uber rides to my Everyday Card.

How To Access Your Uber Payment Rewards
You can access your Payment Rewards from the “Payment” section under the Menu in the Uber app.  Just click on “Payment” in the Menu and then tap the “Unlock Ride Discounts” button to review your benefits. You will then be able to see a progress bar that shows your current status for each payment method, both when requesting a ride and in the payment menu. You can use your discounts or free rides whenever you like, or simply tap “Save for Later” if you want to use your rewards at a later time.

Tips To Avoid Surge Pricing
Uber has long stirred controversy over the higher “surge” prices it charges during peak times. You can do a few things such as changing your location even by a few hundred feet to influence the price you get. Users have also discovered that you can often get back to normal fare levels by waiting as few as five minutes to book your ride.

UBER Ride Pass for 20% Off ALL Rides & Free UberEats

UBER has unleashed a new version of the Ride Pass and it will probably not be as limited with sign-ups as the previous ones. This is mainly because UBER seems to be making more money from the Ride Pass this time around and you can only select one route you want a flat fare on. Read more about our first review of Ride Passes here and about UBER Rideshare discounts here.

The Pros:

-$3.99 to Free Delivery Fee Paid One-Time by signing up for this Ride Pass.
-Possibly 20% off your rides

The Cons:
-It costs $9.99 instead of the $5.99 before they charged to sign up and you get less in return.
-In our tests in the Houston area we were not impressed that it was 20% off. The price may have been marked up as it seemed higher than normal fares.
-No real fare difference on the selected choice route but maybe a few dollars or so. We’re not sure what the advantage of this Ride Pass is but we will test it more. (more…)

Silvercar Rental Review

I first learned about Silvercar when they came to Dallas a few years ago but never really had a need for them because they were not in a city I had planned to rent a car in until now. I’ve seen all the sites from Ebates to Retailmenot posting promo codes but never really understood how the car rental site worked compared to Budget or Hertz.com.

Pretty sure I have the hang of it now and just in time for a last minute July 4th Vacation in Denver, CO. I have been so worried about this trip because my family will be outside of Denver and I will need a rental car of some kind. So I researched on Kayak.com and then over on the Citi Thank You points site. I also looked over at Budget.com where I am used to putting in coupon codes to save 20% or so.
