Discover Card is by far the Best Card for Holiday Shopping

Discover’s 5% Cashback Bonus categories for the 4th quarter of 2014 include Online Shopping and Department Stores in time for Holiday Shopping. Make sure you are registered for this if you already have a Discover Card, If you do not have a Discover Card it is no too late to apply for one online takes under a minute and the money you will save will be worth it!

If you compare the Discover It Card to Chase or Citi’s promotions for the Holiday Season you will “discover” that its the #1 choice. Discover It is giving you 5% back for ALL online purchases and department stores up to $1,500. Chase is only giving you 5% at select stores and Citi Cards is only up to $500 which is lame if you ask me. They also have another promotion where you can get an additional 5% back on Walgreens or Gas purchases at Shell. This is in addition to the 5% you are already getting online and at department stores!! Discover credit card members can get a 5% Cashback Bonus on up to $1,000 in purchases from October 1st through November 30, 2014, at your choice from one of the following stores: Applebee’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, Lowe’s, Olive Garden, Shell, or Walgreens.

The great thing about the new cards from Discover’s network is that they come without the fees you see with most cards. The advantages go beyond the fees though into the generous cash back you receive back into your wallet. It all depends on what you are purchasing which quarter which will command what 5% back you may see. The only real differences we see in cards #1 and #2 are the 14 months on purchases and balance transfers versus the 18 months on balance transfers and 6 months on purchases.

The basic card is easy to apply for online, by phone or by mail. The card is designed for customer flexibility and convenience, meaning there is a 24 hour customer service hotline based in the U.S., no late fee on your first missed payment, no over-limit fee, and no foreign transaction fee. Last minute payments are easy online and by phone and are accepted until midnight on the due date. Moreover, the interest rate on the IT card remains the same even if there is a missed payment.

Being a Discover IT Card member means getting the lowest interest rates possible. The IT card features 0% APR for 14 months (balance transfers included). After the introductory period the interest rate is determined between 10.99% and 22.99%, with only a 3% fee for balance transfers. Using the card is easy as the cards are accepted at over 8 million locations nationwide, and at many online retailers.

Discover has always been a forerunner in card rewards, and the IT card comes with all of the perks. New categories are released each quarter which earn 5% cash back, and everything else earns 1%. These rewards can be redeemed for statement credit, gift cards, travel, and much more. Amazon.com and allows you to use your rewards on any purchase, and the redemption process is seemless with the payment. This feature allows you the option to use all, some, or none of your rewards on your purchase, whether it is $1 or $1000.

After credit approval, the card is automatically mailed with expedited shipping. Once the card is received complete control is given to the customer, even allowing the customer to select the payment due date. Being a member is also beneficial in the event of an emergency or job loss; allowing lesser payments, lower interest, or payment holds just with a click or call.

Here is version #2 below. It has the same name as the card above from the same bank but it has a different purchase APR and rates.
